In English class we worked abou love, for exemple kinds of love, love songs, Romeo and Juliet's book (rather a versión for non-English students) and finally we watched the film with the same name (the 1996 film Romeo and Juliet). This entry will deal about the differences between the film and book of Romeo and Juliet.
The first difference is the setting: in the book the story happens during medieval times, while in the movie we can see the fervency of the '90s; another notable difference to bear in mind regarding the setting of the story is the name given to the city: while both stories happen in Verona, in the book it's referred as Fair Verona but in the movie it's called Verona Beach.
Another difference is metaphors that we can see in the movie but not in the book, such as the water (for example, in the swimming pool in front of Juliet's balcony) that represents the peace between the two families or the fire (like, for example, the burning gas station during the initial fight) that represents the fight between two families.
The film has a very different language than the book since, even though some characters still talk in verse, it uses modern and vulgar language. Oher differences are seen in basic elements: the most obvious of these is the fact that swords and daggers have turned into guns in the film; note that those guns have the words 'sword' or 'dagger' on them.
