5 Ways Embracing My Anxiety Changed The Way I Saw The World

SUMMARY:

In this news the writer, Brian Litterer, gives five advice to control our anxiety and OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder).
First of all, he explains that when he grown up he viewed that the anxiety and OCD are the negative facets that govern every aspect of his life. Then he came to the conclusion that anxiety told him what to do.
Later he mention some examples of how anxiety made him go bad times when he was younger, for example, the idea of driving disabled him or when he was petrifying to think about joining a club at school.

After the explication the writer give us five ways to control this two negative facts.

1.    I’m not “normal,” but that’s okay. I think that this point can be summarize in a famous quote: “normal is boring”. After a reflection, the writer realizes that the people are so obsessed with be normal and he say that he don’t want to be normal because his idiosyncrasies make him who he is today.

2.    I can’t control every aspect of my life. Litterer do another reflection where he say that when he was young he want to control of aspects of his life but now he realizes that he cannot control all aspects of his life.

3.    There will always be something to fear. The writer realized there will always be something to fear in our life so he put some examples as he will fear his job interview or his graduation, but he became aware that will never be some panacea to solve all our fears. But that is something we have embraced.

4.    If I am not anxious, I am not trying. In this point, the writer explains the paradox of his life: be comfortable and content but he not push himself to grow or the other side he can’t push himself into situations that place his outside my comfort zone and enable me to grow. Then he explains that he have chosen the latter situation and he said that was a good idea because even though was the way that make him more anxious he can grow up as a person.

5.    I’ve got a war in my mind I can win. Finally he say that he got a war in his mind as the lyrics of Lana del Rey and he explains that every day he has to fight with himself and his anxiety but he tries to control it to live his life the best he can.
