My name is Marina Carrillo and I’m 16 years old. I live in a little village called Sant Miquel de Fluvià, situated in Alt Empordà. I used to live in Barcelona but I moved here when I was 5 years old. Some things I like are hanging out with friends, watching movies and videos on Youtube, making exercise and spending my time with my family, friends and boyfriend. There are not many things that I don’t like.

Last year I studied 4th ESO. It was a good year because I was in the same class that my friends were in, I took good marks and it was fun overall. Apart from 4th ESO, the rest of high school years were just as good, though also a bit difficult.

This year I started Batxillerat. I’m so scared because I think that this year will be so much harder than the previous ones and I want to take the best marks possible so it’s easier for me to access University. It also feels different because the classmates have radically changed and I miss my friends.

Obama 'heartbroken' as White House employee killed

SUMMARY:

This news is about a thirty-four-year-old boy, Jake Brewer, died in a charity bike ride to conquer cancer event. The accident happened because he lost control of his bike in a sharp curve and was hit by a vehicle. 

President Obama said that he devoted his life to empowering people and makinig fovernment work better for them. He also said that Mr. Brewer had a brilliant mind, a big heart, and an insatiable desire to give back. Finally Obama said he annf his wife would be praying for the Brewer family and he also adding that they'll always have a family in the White House.

Mary Katharine Ham, his wife, posted the news on Instagram and said that he was so important in her life and also said that Jake made the absolute, ever-lovin' most of his time with all of us.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion Jake Brewer was a hero. I guess that few people wouldn't did the same of Jake because actually a lot of people are very selfish and just think of them, but Jake did a lot of things for people, for example, he worked on a number of initiativeswith the aim of using technology to improve people's lives. This news has made me see that we all have to do things to improve the world.

RECIPE

CRAFTS FAIR SANT MIQUEL DE FLUVIÀ

Another year the population of  Sant Miquel de Fluvià  celebrate the crafts fair, a fair where a lot of artisans met and show their work and they also do workshop for the visitors. This fair is the last sunday of may. So in this entry I talk about this fair: who participate, who organizes, the topic of this year...

As I have already said, this fair is the thirty first of may. We can find a lot of artisians that show the visitors their work, normally we can find a carpenter, blacksmith, who work the potter, handicrafts, baker... There's also a stand of the teenager of the civis center, I actually work there. The stand of civis center has things made of wood because is the topic of this year, but we also have another pretty things, for exaple flower crowns. Apart from that we do activities and handicrafts for kids. Another thing that deserves mention is the raffle: all stands of artisians give an object shown to ours and we raffle them as a set between the visitors who fill a form and pay 1 euro.

While celebrating the fair, in the village, som especial things take place, for example traditional catalan activity, such as castellers or they are open the dors of the famous church and some people of village represents the priests of medieval age. I forgot to say that i nthe stand of civic center we dress like medieval peolpe.

In this entry I talk a little of the most famous fair in Sant Miquel de Fluvià, if  you don't have anything to do this sunday you can visitate this fair and do some medieval activity.

ORAL PRESENTATION

We've been told to upload a PowerPoint we used for an oral presentation on our blogs. This one, concretely, was about a photographer we could choose from a list, concretely, the list of photographers working for Magnum Photos. I chose Marilyn Silverstone.


 

A PRIZE-WINNING PHOTO

This is a photo was won an award and is from the photographer Richard Stacks. This photographer , a Baltimore native, had no formal training as a photographer. He started being interested in photography while attending school at City College.

 

At City, he took pictures of sporting events and dances. After he graduated, Stacks did a short stint working in a steel mill before picking up the camera again working as a door-to-door baby photographer.

 

 

In this picture we can see, in the background, a small wooden house. Next to the house we can see a trees. In the foreground there is a lake, in this is reflected in the house background. We also see a small boat and a long fence.
